Texas Parent to Parent Conference -- Event Roundup: Parents had a lot to see, hear, learn and share!

Texas Parent to Parent Conference -- Event Roundup: Parents had a lot to see, hear, learn and share! — Behavior Frontiers

It’s easy to forget how vast Texas is until we come together for a state-wide conference. This was the second year Behavior Frontiers participated as an exhibitor at the Texas Parent to Parent (TxP2P) Conference, and it was, yet again, a great experience. TxP2P brings people in from all across the state: from Amarillo to Laredo, from El Paso to Houston – they all make the trip to take part in the supportive community built around this conference. I met many, many wonderful people who stopped by the Behavior Frontiers’ booth to learn about our in-home ABA services in Austin, Dallas and San Antonio! It was fantastic that even folks who didn’t have a firsthand need for ABA services wanted to learn more about it, and often took our flyers so that they could connect a parent in need.

Not only was the TxP2P Conference a great opportunity to connect with families, but it was also a gathering place for the awesome community of people who dedicate their careers to providing needed support services to families. There was major buzz surrounding TX HB1, Rider 32, which will require that ABA services be funded through Texas Medicaid. Therapy groups, health care providers, and state program teams attending the conference all shared their thoughts and hopes for the future of Medicaid funding for ABA in TX.

The Behavior Frontiers booth was stationed by the Peer to Peer Summit room, which was geared to young adults and teens, both with and without disabilities. They held regular discussions as well as a drum circle throughout the 2- day conference that filled the hallway with a soft musical rumble. I was greatly surprised when, at the end of the Saturday session, they burst from the room with their musical instruments and led a Samba parade, snaking through the two levels of the conference center!

This conference aims to provide a supportive community environment for parents in the vast, and ever growing, state of Texas. The broad variety of support services, technology and organizations at the TxP2P Conference affords parents the opportunity to learn about the array of options at their disposal. I was thrilled to take part in this marvelous event and to share details about Behavior Frontiers quality ABA services, about our unrivaled staff training, and our on-going and uncompromising commitment to helping our clients and their families live their very best lives.
