Encouraging Dramatic Play with DIY Star Wars Crafts for Kids

This simple craft for kids is engaging, fun and fits into our ABA curriculum as it inspires dramatic play. Our Moreno Valley Autism Care Center in California encourages kiddos to partake in role playing activities as it teaches emotional regulation, imagination and creativity.

Have your kiddo tap into their inner Star Wars Jedi by creating these fun Yoda ears at home. Our autism care center in Moreno Valley assembled step-by-step instructions for convenience. Make sure to share your craft on social media when you finish and tag @behaviorfrontiers!

STEP 1Collect all materials: prints outs of ears, scissors, glue or tape, 2 sheets of green construction paper & writing utensil
STEP 2Cut out two 2-inch strips of the construction paper
STEP 3Glue or tape together so it becomes one long piece
STEP 4Wrap around and glue/tape ends so it fits on child’s head like a crown
STEP 5Cut out the ears and use as a stencil to draw the ears on the green construction paper
STEP 6Cut out the ears and copy the inside lines on stencil to add depth to each ear
STEP 7Fold at the area where there are perforated lines
STEP 8Attach one to each side of the headpiece

When you’re done creating the DIY Yoda Ears, you and your kiddo can continue tapping into their creative forces! Get free Star Wars coloring pages and listen to Star Wars Jedi playlists recommended by Moreno Valley Autism Care Center. Just print, stream and let the force be with you!

You can download Star Wars coloring page printables in pdf versions.

Embrace the Force Before Bedtime

Your young Star Wars Jedi just had a fun-filled day of flexible thinking and problem-solving. Your kiddo engaged in dramatic play, stimulating their imagination, and allowing them to explore different roles, scenarios and outcomes.

Now, it’s time to wind down!

For quiet moments before bedtime, our Moreno Valley behavioral therapists selected a few inspiring Star Wars books featuring inspiring and noteworthy characters from a galaxy far, far away. Your young Jedi will be encouraged to wake up tomorrow with a renowned sense of bravery, compassion, and wisdom.

Saving the galaxy requires a good night of rest! Remind them that this is their final task before they become a true Jedi. May the Force be with them!
