Improving Fine Motor Skills with DIY Mermaid Crafts for Kids of All Ages

This simple craft for kids is engaging, fun, and fits into our applied behavior analysis ABA curriculum as it strengthens Fine Motor Skills. Our BT's in Temecula suggest creative activities for children with autism. These activities can assist with sensory integration, emotions, self-esteem, and confidence.

Have your kiddo tap into their inner Ariel by creating these fun mermaid wands at home. Our team of behavior technicians providing autism care in Temecula put together step-by-step instructions.

STEP 1Gather all materials: scissor, pencil, glitter glue, regular glue, stencil, construction paper, wooden bamboo stick (or popsicle stick)
STEP 2Cut out the stencil & trace 2x on construction paper. Then cut out the stars.
STEP 3Add glue to the center of one star and place bamboo stick on top. Wait to dry.
STEP 4Add glue to the bamboo stick and place the other star. Wait to dry.
STEP 6 Add a dot of glue between each “arm” of the star and press together.
STEP 7Decorate with glitter glue, stickers, etc.

After making the DIY mermaid craft, you and your child can keep being creative together! Enjoy free printable pdf mermaid and pirate coloring pages and/or listen to one of the many themed playlists recommended by our Temecula Autism Care team!
